This study aims to examine the effectiveness of concept-based economic learning in improving students’ understanding of market economy mechanisms and financial literacy at SMA di Masbagik, Lombok Timur. The low level of financial literacy among students, particularly in rural areas such as Masbagik, is a fundamental problem in cultivating a financially literate generation. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design involving 120 Grade XI Social Studies students. Results showed that concept-based economic learning significantly improved students’ understanding of market economy concepts (p<0.05) and financial literacy skills (p<0.01) compared to conventional methods. The integration of market economy concepts into classroom learning proved to positively impact students’ financial literacy competencies. These findings encourage the development of a more contextual economic curriculum oriented toward building early financial literacy competencies, particularly in schools across East Lombok, and highlight the strategic role of Universitas Hamzanwadi in supporting quality economic education in the region.
